as well as the reference junction temperature have to be informed
to MC5P. More of reference junction connections in part C of this
manual.
Internal Pressure Modules
Internal Pressure Modules are Pressure Modules installed into the
same rack as MC5P and are connected to MC5P via communica-
tion cable inside the rack. Up to nine Internal Pressure Modules
may be connected to MC5P. One of them may be an internal baro-
metric module.
The recommended pressure medium for all internal pressure mod-
ules is clean air. Clean non-corrosive liquids may optionally be used
in modules with a measuring range of 20 bar/300 psi or more. Avoid
spilling liquid on MC5P when connecting/disconnecting pressure
hoses to/from pressure modules.
To avoid damaging the module, use hand tightening only when con-
necting the pressure measurement hoses (max. torque 5 Nm,
approx. 3.6 lbf ft). If the use of tools is required to secure the con-
nection (typically pressure modules with a pressure range higher
than 20 bar), apply the counterforce by placing a 14 mm (approx. 9/
16”) A/F spanner on the flats found in the module’s connector.
The overpressure protection of the internal pressure modules vents
to the inside of the module rack. Remember to be cautious when
working with pressure and pressure modules. See also chapters
Safety on page 22 and Safety Precautions and Warnings on page
23.
Installing and removing Pressure Modules is described in the
MCS100 User Guide.
External Pressure Modules
MC5P has a connector for External Pressure Modules (EXTs). The
connector is located in the E module section of MC5P.
Environment Temperature Sensor Interface
This connector is also located in the E module section of MC5P. It is
meant to be used with an optional temperature measurement sen-
sor. The sensor is only meant for environment temperature mea-
surement. It should not be used as a reference sensor when cali-
brating temperature instruments.
