for more information or call Cisco TAC 1 800 553-2447 in order to report a Service-Affecting (SA)
problem.

SONET Logical Objects: DS1, DS3, E1
The (TX) Transmit Direction AIS condition is raised by the ONS 15454 backplane when it receives a
far-end DS-1 LOS.
Clear the TX-AIS Condition
Step 1 Determine whether there are alarms on the downstream nodes and equipment, especially the “LOS
(OCN)” alarm on page 2-164, or OOS ports.
Step 2 Clear the downstream alarms using the applicable procedures in this chapter.

Default Severity: Not Reported (NR), Non-Service-Affecting (NSA)
SONET Logical Objects: DS1, E1
The Transmit Direction LOF condition is transmitted by the backplane when it receives a DS-1 TX-LOF.
This alarm is raised only at the transmit (egress) side.
Clear the TX-LOF Condition
Step 1 Complete the “Clear the LOF (DS1) Alarm” procedure on page 2-148.
