3.11 Setting the thread tensioning spring

Proper setting
The thread tensioning springs need to keep the needle threads under
tension until the needle tips plunge into the sewing material.
If the needle threads are slack when the needles plunge into the sewing
material, the needles may prick the threads when moving down.
To check the thread tension, slowly turn the handwheel forward while
observing the thread tensioning springs at the moment of puncture.
To set the spring travel:
1. Loosen the screw (1).
2. Adjust the regulator (3) by turning.
3. Tighten the screw (1).
To adjust the thread tension:
1. Loosen the screw (1).
2. Turn the socket (2).
• Increase the thread tension: turn clockwise
• Reduce the thread tension: turn counterclockwise
3. Tighten the screw (1).
