Primary transferring unit
The primary transferring unit uses a 600-dpi thermal line scan head, which is installed near the inked ribbon.
It transfers ink from the inked ribbon to the transfer film while moving the inked ribbon and transfer film.
This mechanism is called thermal transferring. The inked ribbon uses dye-sublimation (CMY: cyan, magenta,
yellow) for printing-colored images, pigment-sublimation (K: black), a heat seal, a stripping section, and a UV
unit.
Secondary transferring unit
The secondary transferring unit uses a heat roller to transfer images from the transfer film to the cards. This
mechanism is also called thermal transferring.
Card feeder unit
The card feeder is installed in the upper portion of the printer. Cards are stacked horizontally with the surface
(printing surface) of the cards facing the left side of the printer. Users can load a maximum of 250 cards
(thickness: 0.76 mm) at once.
The card feeder is a detachable cartridge, so it is easy to attach or detach it during printing. The cartridge
allows user to refill cards when it is attached to or detached from the printer.
Cleaning unit
The cleaning unit removes dust and dirt by touching the cleaning roller to the cards.
The cleaning roller collects dust and dirt that is removed from the cards, and the cleaning tape removes
them from the cleaning roller.
Periodic maintenance of the cleaning tape will ensure cleaning function stability.
Flip card unit
Functions of the flip section include taking in cards from card feeder, delivering cards to the secondary
transferring unit, transferring cards to optional units, and ejecting rejected cards.
Decurl unit
The de-curling unit flattens warped cards delivered to the secondary transferring unit.
Card ejection units
The printer has two card ejecting units: one on the left (card ejecting unit 1) and one on the lower right (card
ejecting 2). You can change the settings to choose which one will receive normally printed cards and which
one will receive mistakenly ejected cards. The default setting for the units has card ejecting unit 1 receives
normally ejected cards and card ejecting unit 2 receive mistakenly ejected cards.
Unit for mounting optional parts
This unit accepts the magnetic R/W unit, R/W unit for various non-contact IC cards (e.g., Mifare and Felica),
and the contact R/W unit.
RFID Key holder
It controls the type and consumed amount of ink ribbon through communication with ID-key attached to the
ink ribbon.
Print head
The Printhead is heated to transfer the Ink Ribbon's ink to the Transfer Film to form images.
