8.2 BIOS Error Messages - M Motherboard
If BIOS finds an error during a power-ON self-test (POST), an audible beep code is
emitted and a message is displayed.
When the message is displayed, the following is also displayed: "PRESS F1 TO
CONTINUE, CTRL-ALT-ESC OR DEL TO ENTER SETUP"
If BIOS detects an error during the POST, one or more messages shown below are
displayed:
Error Name Meaning
Channel 2 timer error Error of 8254 Timer
CMOS battery failure CMOS battery test fail
CMOS system options net set T.B.D.
CMOS checksum error CMOS checksum test error
Keyboard locked When key islocking during boot
Keyboard not functional There is no keyboad during boot however in Headless
mode it can be bypass
Keyboard controller not functional KB control test fail.
CMOS memory size different When BIOS uses other than "Base Memory: 64KB,
Extend memory: 1MB"
Memory decreased in size DIMM Memory size decrease from the previous boot
in the system during boot time.
Cache Memory Error
Flooppy drive 0 error When Floppy drive is enabled, floppy drive cannot
work well.
Floppy controller error Floppy control test fail.
CMOS time not set The time of RTC does not set
Number of ATA drive reduced error Number of ATA Device decrease from the previous
boot in the system during boot time.
DDC Monitor Configuration Change System board device resources conflict.
3.3V out of range and the value +3.3 voltage out of limit
+5V out of range and the value +5 voltage out of limit
-5V out of range and the value -5 voltage out of limit
+12V out of range and the value +12 voltage out of limit
-12V out of range and the value -12 voltage out of limit
