Optical Ports Features: Interoperability, Backward, Compatibility, and Cop-
per SFP Compatibility
Hillstone devices support the following five optical ports: the 100GE(QSFP28) optical port, the
40GE(QSFP+) optical port, the 10GE(XFP) optical port, the 10GE(SFP+) optical port, and the
1GE(SFP) optical port. Their default data rates are 100Gbps, 40Gbps, 10Gbps, 10Gbps, and
1000Mbps (or 1Gbps) respectively. Different optical ports should be connected with cor-
responding transceiver modules.
The interoperability, backward compatibility, and copper SFP compatibility differ from optical
ports.
Notes: The above features of Hillstone optical ports require StoneOS 5.5R8 and
later versions. Lower versions may need to be upgraded to 5.5R8 or later.
Interoperability
Hillstone 100GE(QSFP28) optical ports and 40GE(QSFP+) optical ports can interoperate with
25G optical ports and 10G optical ports respectively via fiber break-out cables and 4-path trans-
ceiver modules with MPO connectors.
l 100GE(QSFP28) Optical Port: The default data rate is 100Gbps. It can interoperate with
25G optical ports via fiber break-out cables and the 4-path TRAN-SR4-QSFP28 with MPO
connectors. To interoperate with 25G optical ports, use the channel-speed 25000 command
in the optical port configuration mode.
l 40GE(QSFP+) Optical Port: The default data rate is 40Gbps. It can interoperate with 10G
optical ports via fiber break-out cables and the 4-path TRAN-SR-QSFP+ with MPO con-
nectors. To interoperate with 10G optical ports, use the channel-speed 10000 command in
the optical port configuration mode.
To restore the default data rate of the optical port, use the no channel-speed command in the
optical port configuration mode.
