Monitor the Status of Ports
The device enters Bypass state when a specific incident occurs (such as power failure, abnormal
operation, and system reboot). The IOM-8MM-B-260 module has four Bypass pairs which can
monitor the interfaces on other expansion modules separately. For example, port0' is connected to
"interface1" on another expansion module and port1' is connected to "interface2" on that module.
Port0 and port1 will be connected directly when the system detects that "interface1" or "inter-
face2" is not working normally, which means the firewall is bypassed.
1. In the global configuration mode, use the following command to enter the Bypass interface
pair mode:
bypass slot
slot-id
pair
pair-id
2. In the Bypass interface pair mode, use the following command to enable or disable the mon-
itor function:
l monitor
interface1 interface2
- Enable this function.
l nomonitor - Disable this function.
Forced Bypass
When the device is running normally and you still want to enable the Bypass function, you can
enable forced Bypass. To enable or disable the forced Bypass, in the Bypass interface pair mode,
use the following commands:
l force-bypass - Enable forced Bypass.
l no force-bypass - Disable forced Bypass.
