Configuring an Interface Module
When an interface module is recognized and functions normally, its ports work the same way as
other ports on the device. For more information about port configuration, for example, binding a
port to a zone, specifying an IP address, and configuring policy rules, see
StoneOS WebUI User Guide
.
The physical ports on the interface module have predefined names, consisting of port type, slot
number, and port number, for example, the ports on the IOM-16SFP module inserted in Slot 2
are named ethernet2/0, ethernet2/1, ethernet2/2, etc.
Bypass Module
The Bypass module connects two networks. Data between them are transferred by the firewall in
normal conditions. When a specific incident occurs (like sudden power failure or system reboot),
the two networks are connected directly by the bypass module, therefore, the firewall is bypassed.
You can install bypass module(s) in general expansion slots.
Notes: If the device is deployed in the HA mode, the bypass module cannot be
installed.
Bypassing the Device with a Bypass Module
Bypass modules supported by the SG-6000 X series have the following two types:
l Single-mode bypass module: IOM-2SM-B, IOM-2SM-BE
l Multi-mode bypass module: IOM-8MM-B-260, IOM-2MM-B, IOM-2MM-BE
The Bypass Module (IOM-8MM-B-260) of SG-6000-X8180 has 16 optical ports which can group
four Bypass pairs.
The Bypass Modules (IOM-2SM-B, IOM-2SM-BE, IOM-2MM-B, and IOM-2MM-BE) of SG-
6000-X7180, SG-6000-X6180, and SG-6000-X6150 have four optical ports which can group one
Bypass pair.
