5. In the case of a manual stage, align the specimen with the center of the specimen stage.
Turn the stage knobs X and Y to align the tip of the positioning guide with the center (a
cross mark), as shown in Figure 4.2.3-7.

6. Insert the specimen stage gradually while checking to see if the specimen does not
contact the surrounding components of the specimen chamber, as shown below.

CAUTION
: The specimen stage weighs approximately 5 kg. When exchanging
specimens, securely grasp the handle and be careful not to get your
hands pinched.
NOTE
: As shown in Figure 4.2.3-9, if the specimen or the specimen stub touches the
upper face of the frontage, re-adjust the height of the specimen stub with reference
to 4.2.2 6, 7.
