7.14 Operation Procedures
This chapter describes the basic operating procedures, including image acquisition and 3D
display, for producing a 3D display. If an accurate measurement is to be taken or if a 3D
image differs from an actual sample shape, calibration should be performed by referring to
7.22.
7.14.1 Procedure of 3D-Image Capture
1. Specimen Height Setting
The recommended height of the specimen for 3D-Image Capture is 8.5 mm ( 1 mm) as
well as the EDX analysis. The height adjustment tool for EDX and adjust the height of
the specimen.

NOTE
: In case of capturing the image outside the recommended range of sample height,
the accuracy of 3D display and the measurement with 3D-Image Viewer might
decrease.
2. Insertion Direction of Specimen
3D-VIEW executes 3D display and measurement by using the image observed from a
specific direction. Therefore, whenever 3D-Image Capture is executed, the rotation angle
is set to a specified value. In the case of the rotation function, the directions of the field of
view and the image are changed. When adjusting the direction of the observation view
by using 3D-VIEW, the insertion direction of a specimen should be adjusted.
