4.6 Installing the Battery Enclosure
Battery Enclosure installation is described in a logical sequence starting with assembling and mounting the optional battery
enclosure followed by assembling and fitting the batteries.
Batteries are classified as hazardous goods and must be shipped in their own packaging. It is therefore necessary for the
customer to install the batteries into the enclosure after the enclosure is securely mounted.

Note:
The TPPR Battery Enclosure should be installed only on a vertical surface and avoiding sloping surfaces. Only use
the mounting brackets supplied with the enclosure, and carefully follow the installation instructions below.
The mounting surface should be flat, and strong enough to bear the weight of the Enclosure with the batteries
installed. Drywall / plasterboard, dry lined or timber framed type construction is not considered to be a suitable
structural material, unless strengthened with additional supports or braces and/or special fixings. Take into account
the weight of the batteries and external cabling in addition to the weight of the unit itself.
The TPPR Battery Enclosure should have a clearance of 200 mm to either side, and there should be no heat sources
below or adjacent to it. Do not obstruct the air vents on either side.

The TPPR Battery Enclosure must be installed in a Pollution Degree 2 environment as defined by IEC 61010-1
(CSA-C22.2 No 61010, ANSI/ISA 61010-1(82.02.01)), i.e. an environment such as an office or control room.
The TPPR Battery Enclosure is specified for operation in ambient temperatures from -20°C to +45°C. Operation
outside of this range invalidates the warranty and certification.
Ensure that there will be unobstructed access to the Circuit Breaker / Battery Isolator switch inside the enclosure,
and that there will be sufficient room to fit or remove the batteries when required.

The backup batteries have a limited shelf life, so please ensure that the batteries are connected and fully charged
within 3 months of delivery.

Fix the battery enclosure securely to the wall before installing the 7.5 kg (12 Ah x 2) or 17 kg (27 Ah x 2) batteries.
Prior to starting mechanical installation, it is recommended that you take into account that the DCUPS to Battery
Enclosure Circuit Breaker / Isolator cable is limited to a maximum of 5 m of 4 mm
2
cable, and that you position the
enclosures accordingly before making any permanent fixings.
