9.5.3 Cause and Effect Type Selection
A Relay Output channel can be configured as a ‘Master’ relay, which activates if any specific condition is present anywhere
in the system (e.g. Alarm 1), or as a ‘Normal’ relay, which activates according to the programmed Cause and Effect matrix
for that channel.
9.5.4 Output Type
Select the required Output Type, Master or Normal, as required.
9.5.5 Event Selection for Master Channel
The master selection option uses a screen similar to that below:
For example, if AL1 is selected, the output will activate if any configured channel reports an AL1 condition. Similarly, if Fault
(FLT) is enabled, the output will activate if any channel reports a fault.
Multiple conditions may be enabled, for instance an output may be configured to activate on any alarm and any fault.
9.5.6 Zoned Outputs
To configure an output to monitor a zone, use a Normal cause and effect type, as described below, and associate the
channels in the required zone with an output channel.
9.5.7 Input Channel Preselection for Cause and Effect Matrix (Normal Relay Channel)
Access Level: Engineer
This screen helps to reduce the number of channels listed in the Cause and Effect (C&E) Matrix to only the channels the
operator wants to map. Select the required input channels to link to this relay output channel by checking the box next to the
channel ID. The details of this link (Alarm1, Warning…) will be assigned in the next screen.
Note: If you used the option to copy from a configured channel, the input channels linked to that channel will be
automatically pre-selected. The alarms, faults etc. associated with these channels may be disabled in the next screen if
required.
9.6 Cause & Effect Matrix
The Cause & Effect matrix uses a screen similar to that below:
