Hard Keys and Rotary Knob
You can switch the auto/manual aperture mode using the
SPEED function key on the Meter view. See “Meter View” on
page 140.
Range + Changes the measurement range up, and switches the
measurement range mode to FIXED. The setting value is
displayed on the RANGE function key.
You can switch the AUTO/FIXED range mode using the RANGE
function key on the Meter view. See “Meter View” on page 140.
It is applied to the current measurement on the
B2981B/B2983B. It is applied to the latest selected
measurement mode (AMPS(I), COUL(Q), VOLTS(V), or
OHMS(R)) on the B2985B/B2987B.
[home] Sets the measurement speed (SPEED) to Normal, and the
measurement range (RANGE) to AUTO.
It is applied to the all measurement modes (AMPS(I), COUL(Q),
VOLTS(V), and OHMS(R)).
Range Changes the measurement range down, and switches the
measurement range mode to FIXED. The setting value is
displayed on the RANGE function key.

It is applied to the current measurement on the
B2981B/B2983B. It is applied to the latest selected
measurement mode (AMPS(I), COUL(Q), VOLTS(V), or

Fine Res Decreases measurement speed (increases the aperture time).
The setting value is displayed on the SPEED function key.
In the auto aperture mode, changes the aperture time in “Quick
Normal Stable” order.
In the manual aperture mode, changes the aperture time in
“0.001 PLC 0.01 PLC 0.1 PLC 1.0 PLC 10.0 PLC
100.0 PLC” order.
You can switch the auto/manual aperture mode using the
SPEED function key on the Meter view. See “Meter View” on
page 140.
The Coarse Res, Fine Res, Range , and Range keys can be also used for editing
the parameter values in the fields. See “Key Functions for Changing the Settings”
on page 137.
