14.Lift up on the shift shaft rail

and move the rail
assembly rearward to allow the shift fork pins to be
removed from the shift drum

. Remove the shift
drum from the transmission housing.
15.Remove the shift shaft rail and shift forks from the
transmission housing as an assembly.
16.Remove the differential assembly

by lifting
underneath the gear or by tapping the shaft from the
opposite side. If use of a pry bar is necessary, take
care not to pry on sealing surfaces of case.
17.Remove the idler shaft assembly

, and input shaft assembly

transmission housing by pulling assemblies straight
up.
18.Place the idler shaft assembly, reverse shaft
assembly, and input shaft assembly on a clean
surface for inspection. If disassembly is required,
refer to Gear Cluster Disassembly page 7.25.
19.Slide engagement dog
