This product supports two types of print methods, namely thermal transfer and direct thermal. Thermal
transfer is a print method that transfers the ink of the ribbon to the media. Direct thermal is a print
method that creates the image on direct thermal media. Ribbon is not necessary if you are using direct
thermal media.
3.1
Checking the Ink Side of the Ribbon
This product only supports ribbon with Face-in winding direction. Face-in means the ink is on the inner
side. You can examine the ink side of the ribbon using the following procedure.
Note
This checking method is for reference only. It is only applicable to certain types of ribbon.
1 Place the outer side of the ribbon onto
the media (touching).
2 Scratch the inner side of the ribbon with
your fingernail or a pointed object.
3 If there is a mark on the media, the ink is
coated on the outer side of the ribbon.
