2.2 Re_Sync Command
With only one OSx station, no situation occurs in which the operator needs
to resynchronize stations.
In multiple-station systems, the primary keeps the reference copy of the
database and certain files; it continually updates the copies kept on all other
OSx stations. If a station becomes unsynchronized with respect to the
primary (its copy of the database no longer matches that of the primary),
the operator can use the
Re_Sync command to resynchronize it. This
command is selectable when all the following conditions are true.
• The selected station is active.
• The role of the selected station is not primary.
• An active primary exists in the OSx system.
When an OSx station goes out of sync with the primary, the word
RE--SYNC
appears in the Information Area of the screen (Figure 2-2). When a station
is out of sync, it has lost some data. This could be a small or large amount of
information, and the operator needs to resynchronize the station. It is not
necessary to do it immediately because the system can continue to operate
in this condition. You can resynchronize from any OSx station.
If the operator has the Re-sync privilege, the
RE--SYNC icon in the
Information Area becomes a selectable button when the station goes out of
sync (Figure 2-2). The operator can click the button to resynchronize that
station.
