Structure of a PROFIBUS DP network
The figure below illustrates a typical PROFIBUS DP network structure. The DP masters are
integrated in the corresponding device. The S7-400 or S7-300, for example, are equipped
with a PROFIBUS DP interface. The DP slaves are the distributed I/O systems that are
linked with the DP masters via the PROFIBUS DP.
