Anytimethefrontwheelschangespeed(e.g.,initiallypressingthetraction
pedal,climbinganincline,andtiresslipping),therearaxledriveshaftspeedalso
changes.Assoonasthedriveshaftandtherearaxleinputshaftturnatslightly
differentspeeds,thebi-directionalclutchwillengageandpoweristransferred
totherearaxle(Figure195).Theresultisautomatic4-wheeldrive.Theclutch
engagesineitherforwardorreversedirection.
