CAUTION:
Therefore, the ring gear shim thickness is
0.55 mm. Shim sizes are supplied in the fol-
lowing thickness.
Since ring gear shims can only be selected in
0.10 mm increments, round off the hundredths
digit and select the appropriate shim(s).

2. Install:
Shims (proper size as calculated)
Final drive shaft assembly
Bearing retainer (final drive shaft)
Use a bearing retainer wrench.
The final drive shaft bearing retainer has
left-hand threads. Turn the retainer counter-
clockwise to tighten it.

3. Adjust:
Gear backlash
Refer to “FINAL GEAR BACKLASH MEA-
SUREMENT” and “FINAL GEAR BACK-
LASH ADJUSTMENT”.
4. Measure/select:
Ring gear thrust washer clearance
