11.2 Connecting to a Network
Connect a UTP (Unshielded Twisted-Pair) cable or an STP (Shielded Twisted-Pair)
cable that is connected to a hub or other network device to the 100BASE-TX port on the
GS200 rear panel.

Illuminates when a link is established
between the GS200 and another
device and the devices are capable of
communicating with each other

Blinks when packet transmission is in
progress

Connection Cable
Use one of the following cables to connect the GS200 to a network.
A UTP (unshielded twisted pair) cable (category 5 or better)
An STP (shielded twisted pair) cable (category 5 or better)
To Connect to a PC over a Network

Hub or router that supports 100BASE-TX
UTP or STP cable
(straight cable)
Network card
PC
To Connect to a PC through a Hub or Router
GS200
Hub or router that supports 100BASE-TX
UTP or STP cable
(straight cable)
Network card

Note
Use straight UTP or STP cables that are category 5 or better.
Do not connect the GS200 to a PC directly. Direct communication without a hub or router is
not guaranteed to work.
