GP-IB Interface
12.1 GP-IB Interface Features and Specifications
GP-IB Interface Features
Listener Capability
You can use the GP-IB interface to specify the same settings that you can using
the front panel keys. You cannot use it to turn the GS200 on and off or change
communication settings.
The GP-IB interface receives output requests for setup data a
nd measured data from
the controller.
The interface can also receive commands such as status report commands.
Talker Capability
The GP-IB interface transmits setup data, waveform data, and other types of data.
Note
Talk-only, listen-only, and controller capabilities are not available on the GS200.
Switching between Remote and Local Modes
When Switching from Local to Remote Mode
The GS200 switches to remote mode when it is in local mode and it receives a REN
(Remote Enable) message from the controller.
The REMOTE indicator illuminates (see section 1.1).
All keys other than the LOCAL key are locked.
Settings entered in local mode are retained even when the GS200 switches to remote
mode.
When Switching from Remote to Local Mode
The GS200 switches to local mode when it is in remote mode and you press the LOCAL
key.

GP-IB Interface Specifications

Mode: Addressable mode
Address selection:
On the GP-IB Address menu, set the GP-IB address
setting (see section 12.3) to an address from 0 to 30.
Clearing remote mode:
Clear remote mode by pressing LOCAL. However, key
operations are invalid when Local Lockout is enabled
by the controller.
