RECEIVER SETUP
Section 6, Page 25 May 2002
SYNCHRONIZING MULTIPLE RECEIVERS WITH THE MULT/SY-32 SYNC. BOX:
Up to four GDP-32
II
receivers can be synchronized to a single XMT-32 with the MULT/SY-32
Sync Box using the following procedure:
1. Connect all GDP-32
II
s to be synchronized to the Transmitter I/O port on the MULT/SY-
32 Sync Box (Figure 6.6(a)), using synchronization cables as shown in Figure 6.6(b).
2. Connect the XMT-32 to the XMT-32/S port on the MULT/SY-32 Sync Box using a
synchronization cable.
3. Connect the XMT Cal Output to all GDP-32
II
s:
Red XMT-32 cal output to Red Ch 2 on GDP-32
II
Black XMT-32 cal output to Black Ch 2 on GDP-32
II
(Connect all GDP-32
II
s in tandem to XMT-32.)
4. Using the selector switch on the MULT/SY-32 Sync Box, adjust the oscillator on each
GDP-32
II
until the needle on the XMT-32 comes to rest.
CAUTION: DO NOT PRESS RESET ON THE XMT-32 UNTIL ALL GDP-32
II
S ARE
ADJUSTED!
5. After adjusting all receivers, press RESET. If the receivers and transmitter controller are
connected correctly, the needles on the receivers’ analog meters deflect to the right while
the RESET button is depressed. The needles will begin to move in synchronization
when the RESET button is released.
6. Disconnect the synchronization cables. Remove the cable from the XMT-32, then from
the GDP-32
II
s.
7. Verify the synchronization operation by measuring the phase difference between the
external calibration signal on a particular receiver and the corresponding signal generated
by the XMT-32. (See Synchronizing the Transmitter and Receiver)
