Z100-TYPE HARDWARE
Installing Out-of-Building Terminal Wiring
Out-of-building terminals are those extensions not physically located in the same building as
the equipment room but are located on the same property.
Analog and digital terminals can be used for out-of-building terminals.
Analog Out-of-Building Terminals
Figure 2-85 shows the connections required for one to eight out-of-building analog voice
terminals. A B25A cable connects the CABINET CABLES connector on the right side of the
CAP to a Z100B1 Connector Module (see Note) at the cross-connect field (Figure 2-83). There
are eight station appearances on the B25A cable. The TN746 Analog Line circuit pack
cannot be used for out-of-building terminals.
Note: Z100B1 Connector Modules are installed at the end of the cross-connect field
when 4-pair circuits are distributed to the station wiring from the cross-connect field
(Z100A1 Connector Modules). If a Z100B1 Connector Module is not provided, a
connecting unit located on the station side in the Z100A1 Connector Modules must be
replaced with a Z203A1 Connecting Unit.
Carbon block, or equivalent, protection must be provided at both building entrances. The
multi-pair protector units and the out-of-building cabling required must be locally
engineered. Connectorized multi-pair protector units (female 25-pair connector out) are
recommended. The protector units can be ordered from the Premises Distribution Systems
Equipment and Supplies Catalog.
Figures 2-86 shows the connections required for up to 24 out-of-building analog voice
terminals. Concentrator cables are used at both buildings to minimize the out-of-building
wiring required. The concentrator cable (WP-90929, List 2 Cable Assembly) used at the
equipment room connects the CABINET CABLES connector on the right side of the CAP to
a Z100B1 Connector Module (see Note) at the cross-connect field (Figure 2-86). There are
eight terminal appearances on each of the 3-fingers of the concentrator cable. The TN746
Analog Line circuit pack cannot be used for out-of-building terminals.
