Turn on the Hardware
Turnontheenclosuresfirst,andafterthedisksspinup,turnonthecontrollers.
1 Connecttheenclosuresandcontroller(s)toapowersource.
2 TurnoneachenclosureattachedtotheStorageCenter.
a Simultaneouslypressbothpowerswitchesontherearoftheenclosuretoturnonthe
enclosure.
b Repeat
witheachenclosureattachedtotheStorageCenter,waitingforthe disksto
spinupbetweenenclosures.
3 Turnoneachcontrollerbypressingandholdingthepowerbuttononthefrontofthe
controller.Thefansturnonasanindicationthatthecontrollerisstartingtocomeup.
Configure the Controller(s)
Useaserialconnectiontothecontroller(s)tosettheinitialconfiguration.
Reset Hardware and System Serial Numbers
Configurethecontroller(s)withtheHSNandSSNprovidedinthepreinstallation
documents.
1 Establishaserialconnectiontothecontroller.
a UseanRS232serialcabletoconnectaPCorlaptoptoaStorageCentercontrollers
RS232serialport.(ToconnectfromaUSBport,useaUSB
toRS232converter.)
b TurnonthePC.
c Openaterminalemulatororacommandlineinterface.Configuretheconnectionas
showninthefollowingtabl e.
Note: Makesurethatalldisksareupandspinningatfullspeedbeforeturning
onanycontrollers.
Note: IfconfiguringadualcontrollerStorageCenter,performthistaskforboth
controllers.UsethelowestserialnumberforController1.
