7. Remove the drives attached to the backplane. For more information, see "Replacing a
SAS/SATA drive."
8. Remove the drive expander module if it hinders drive backplane removal. For more information,
see "Replacing the drive expander module."

nnect cables from the backplane.
10. Remove the drive backplane. Loosen the captive screws on the backplane, slowly lift the
backplane, and then pull it out of the chassis, as shown in Figure 153.
The re
moval procedure is the same for the servers. This procedure removes the drive
backplane from the UIS-Cell 3020 G3 server.
CAUTION:
Do not use excessive force when lifting the drive backplane out of the chassis. Using
excessive force might strike the components on the backplane against the chassis and
damage the components.

Installing the drive backplane
1. Press the backplane against the drive bay, and then fasten the captive screws on the backplane,
as shown in Figure 154.

ackplane installation procedure is the same for the servers. This procedure installs
the 25SFF drive backplane on the UIS-Cell 3020 G3 server.
