STO safety function
The D1-N servo drive amplifier features a STO (Safe-Torque-Off) safety function
according to IEC61800-5-2 as standard.
6.1
Definition STO
The STO (Safe-Torque-Off) safety function according to IEC61800-5-2 allows the
motor torque to be safely cut off. The drive amplifier's supply voltage (1-/3-phase
230 VAC or 3-phase 400 VAC) does not have to be interrupted in the process. Fur-
thermore, there is no monitoring for standstill.
Both IEC61800-5-2 and IEC 60204-1 describe various stop categories for machines
and systems. The stop categories described below can be undertaken with the
D1-N:
Stop category 0
Stopping by immediately (<200 ms) cutting off the energy to the machine's drive
elements. This means that an uncontrolled stop is undertaken.
Figure 6.1: Stop category 0
Stop category 1
Controlled stopping until a standstill is reached. The energy supply to the drive
elements is not interrupted before a standstill is reached
