If short-circuits and/or cross-circuits may arise in conjunction with safety-related
signals and are not detected by upstream devices, protected routing in accordance
with ISO 13849-2 is needed.
In the event of unprotected routing, the cables for safety-related signals (SF1 and
SF2) may be damaged. If these damaged cables are connected to an external volt-
age, the safety function is no longer effective.
Data for maintenance plans and safety calculations
The maintenance plan for the machine and/or system must include checking the
safety function and this check must be performed at regular intervals. The interval
between the individual checks depends on the result of the risk analysis for the
entire system.
The minimum interval is 1 year (High Demand Mode according to IEC 61508). Use
the data listed below to produce your maintenance plan and for your safety calcu-
lations.
