Verifying the configuration
Before accessing a Web page, user userpt is in VLAN 8 (the initial VLAN) and is assigned an IP address
on subnet 192.168.1.0/24.
When the user attempts to access a Web page on the Internet, the Web request is redirected to
authentication page http://4.4.4.4/portal/logon.htm.
The user provides the correct username and password to pass portal authentication and can access
Internet resources.
Configuring direct portal authentication
Network requirements
As shown in Figure 395, the host is assigned a public network IP address either manually or through
DHCP.
Configure the switch to perform direct portal authentication for users on the host. Before passing portal
authentication, users can access only the portal server. After passing portal authentication, they can
access Internet resources.
Use the IMC server as the RADIUS server for user authentication, authorization and accounting.
