Chapter 7. The DVD Drive Features
This chapter describes the 7226 Model 1U3 Storage Device Enclosure Features
#1420 and #1422, the SAS DVD-RAM Drives; and #5757 and #5762, the USB
DVD-RAM Drives. It describes operator controls and indicator LEDs, gives
instructions for loading and unloading a DVD disc. The 7226 Storage Device
Enclosure is capable of utilizing up to four slim DVD drives. The DVD drives 1
are installed in a Slim Tray 2 that is installed in either bay of the storage
enclosure.
The DVD-RAM drive has the following features:
v Native data storage capacity of up to 9.4 GB per DVD-RAM disc.
v Native write data transfer rate of 1.3 MB per second. Native read data transfer
rate of 2.7 MB per second in DVD mode, 3.6 MB per second in CD mode.
Note: Although the features #1420, #1422, #5757 and # 5762 DVD-RAM drives
can give you high performance, other components of the system
installation may limit the actual performance achieved.
v Read and write compatible with 4.7 GB, and 9.4 GB format DVD discs.
Note: 9.4 GB DVD discs are two-sided media which require the disc to be
flipped manually.
v Reads CD-ROM discs created in either single-or multi-session mode and
supports photo CD applications
v Supports standard and XA media formats
v Accommodates both 12 cm and 8 cm discs
v Supports both synchronous and asynchronous data transfer
v Support includes the following industry standards:
