Removal Checklist
To remove the 7226 Storage Enclosure, perform the following steps:
Attention: Failure to perform the following steps in sequence before you add or
delete a device may result in data loss or system failure.
1. If loaded, remove any media (tape, DVD disc, or removable disk drive) from
the devices installed in the 7226 Storage Enclosure by pressing the unload
button while the power is on.
2. Remove the 7226 Storage Enclosure from the system configuration (for
instructions, refer to your system manuals).
Attention: Failure to inform the operating system before you add or delete a
device may result in data loss or a system fault.
3. Ensure that the system and the 7226 Storage Enclosure are powered off.
DANGER
An electrical outlet that is not correctly wired could place hazardous voltage
on the metal parts of the system or the devices that attach to the system. It is
the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the outlet is correctly wired
and grounded to prevent an electrical shock. (D004)
4. Unplug the power cable for the 7226 Storage Enclosure from the electrical
outlet.
DANGER
To prevent a possible shock from touching two surfaces with different
protective ground (earth), use one hand, when possible, to connect or
disconnect signal cables. (D001)
5. Disconnect the SAS, USB or Fibre Channel cables from the system unit.
6. Disconnect the SAS, USB or Fibre Channel cables from the 7226 Storage
Enclosure.
7. To remove the 7226 Storage Enclosure from the rack, see “Removing the 7226

8. If reinstalling the 7226 Storage Enclosure, see Chapter 3, “Attaching the 7226
