If the enclosure does not power up normally, go to Step 13. If the
enclosure powers on and appears to run normally, reassemble the
enclosure, and then return to Step 1.
YES Replace the damaged component or reseat the cable, reassemble
the enclosure and then return to Step 1.
Step 13
This step checks that the external SAS, USB or Fibre Channel cables are plugged
into the device correctly.
Perform a visual check of the external SAS, USB or Fibre Channel cables. As the
cable plugged securely and is the cable in good condition?
NO Replace or reseat the cable, if necessary, and then return to Step 1.
YES Go to Step 14.
Step 14
This step determines whether an internal SAS, USB or Fibre Channel Interface
Assembly is the source of the problem.
1. Press the power switch to turn off the power to the 7226 Storage Enclosure.
2. Disconnect the internal SAS, USB or Fibre Channel Interface Assemblies from
the media devices.
3. Inspect the SAS, USB or Fibre Channel Interface Assemblies for signs of
damage, such as bent pins or damaged wires.
Are the internal SAS or USB Interface Assemblies in good condition?
NO Replace the Interface Assembly (see Chapter 11, “Installation and
Removal Procedures,” on page 135), reassemble the enclosure, and
then return to Step 1.
YES Reassemble the enclosure.
If the host system is an IBM Power System with AIX Operating
System, then go to Step 15 (IBM Power System with AIX Operating
System Only).
If the host system is an IBM Power System with IBM i (OS)
Operating System, then go to Step 17 (IBM Power System with
IBM i Operating System Only).
If the host system is an IBM Power System with Linux Operating
System, then go to Step 21 (IBM Power System with Linux
Operating System Only).
