5250 Terminal Emulation Programmer’s Guide
Below are the valid FCWs and functions supported by the terminals.
Value (Hex) Description
80nn E ntry field resequ encing. The “nn” specifies the next entry field in the
sequ e nce (hex 00 to 80).
8101 Magnetic stripe reader (MSR) entry field.
8103 MSR and selector light pen (SLP) entry field.
84nn T ransparency entry field. The “nn” is any two digits.
B140 Self-check modulus 11 entry field.
B1A0 Self- check module 10 entry field.
The first FCW of any type is used; subsequent FCWs of the same type are
ignored. The controller does not check to see if the FCWs are formatted
correctly or if the requested function is installed. During subsequent com-
mand and keystroke processing, the controller detects and reports these
errors to the host if the FCW is required. FCWs types are as follows.
S Resequencing
Resequencing enables the controller to send the input fields to the host
in any specified order. Resequencing is done by chaining input fields
with FCWs that specify the desired order of transmission. The rese-
quencing FCW takes the following format:
Bits Description
0–1 B10
2–7 B 000000
8–15 Thenormalsequencepositionofthenextfieldtobereturnedtothehost.
(The first field on the screen is number 1. Field numbers progress sequen -
tially, left to right and top to bottom.)
Bit 3 of the SOH order contains the number of the field to be sent. If
the first field identifier in the SOH is zero, resequencing does not oc-
cur. That is, all resequencing FCWs are ignored. Fields are sent to the
host in the order defined in the format table. If resequencing occurs, the
last field to be sent to the host must contain this FCW:
Bits Description
0–1 B10
2–7 B 000000
8–15 B11111111
Note: If FCWs create a closed loop, the controller detects the error and
stops the transmission. An FCW for each field is not required. An FCW
pointing to the next sequential field is assumed if no resequencing FCW
is specified. The last field in the f ormat table must have a resequencing
FCW.
