B4.3 Checking the dirty water tank float switch
As well as indicating when the dirty water tank needs emptying, the dirty water tank float
switch also commands raising of the squeegee and shutdown of the suction motor via the
control panel board. To reset squeegee operation and turn off the alarms after emptying
the dirty water tank, switch the machine off by turning the key to position "0" (reset).
The float switch communicates the dirty water tank full warning to the control panel board.
If the float switch signal is constant (float raised) for more than five seconds (5”), it also
commands flashing of the warning LED on the control panel. The delay has been set
specifically to avoid intermittent shutting down and starting up when the tank is nearly full.
After the LED has been on for 20 seconds, the control panel board commands the suction
motor to shut down, causing the squeegee to be raised.
1
Obtain a digital multimeter with a continuity measurement function, see photograph below.
2
Before checking operation (electrical continuity) of the float switch, visually check its mechanical operation.
3
Lift the dirty water tank lid A and identify the float switch with lever C under the plastic protection B.
