A3.3 Checking and replacing the brush motor carbon brushes on
the bench
If the brush motor carbon brushes cannot be checked and/or replaced without removing the
head from the machine (see paragraph A1.3), remove the head as described in paragraph A3.1
to replace the carbon brushes on the bench.
You are recommended to always check the brush motor carbon brushes whenever the head is
dismounted from the machine for whatever reason.
The CT 230 is available in 850 mm and 1050 mm disk head versions mounting two
different types of motor which differ in the cooling system, power (Watts) and type of
carbon brush.

First remove the control panel as described in paragraph A3.1.

Remove the terminals from the Anderson connector and the sheath and lift up the air conveyor as described
in paragraph A1.3.

If the metal bands A allowing inspection and replacement of the carbon brushes have not already been
removed, remove by pulling the plastic spring clips B outwards.

Identify the four carbon brushes arranged at 90°.

Identify the carbon brush which seems most worn and remove it for measurement.

To remove the carbon brush C, raise the spring D and extract by pulling it outwards.

Unscrew the nut E to release the
carbon brush from its mount. Pay
attention to the washer F.
