TCU and Traction Motor Temperature
See Figure 4-55.
Figure 4-55
Cycle through the LCD menu until the TCU and traction
motor temperature screen is displayed. The display will
indicate the temperature of the TCU heatsink and traction
motor.
If the TCU heatsink temperature goes above 185° F
(85° C), the following will occur:
• The LCD sounds the alarm and turns on the fault
LED.
• Traction operation is disabled.
• Diagnostic fault code “TRACTION FAULT 4310” is
displayed. (See “DTC: Traction Fault 4310” on
page 4-105.)
If the traction motor temperature goes above 356° F
(180° C), the following will occur:
• The LCD will sound the alarm and turn on the fault
LED.
• Traction operation is disabled.
• Diagnostic fault code “TRACTION FAULT 4210” is
displayed. (See “DTC: Traction Fault 4210” on
page 4-105.)
Extremely Slow Traction, No Fault
1. Fault: Slow traction (less than 1 MPH) with no fault(s)
shown in LDU
2. Possible root cause(s) and troubleshooting
procedure:
a. Motor speed sensor signal not reaching TCU
i. Visually inspect for damaged cable or
connectors between traction motor and TCU.
ii. Faulty motor speed sensor. Check motor
amperage on LDU screen.
3. Fixes:
a. For issue 2.a.i: Repair any damage to wires and
connectors. If new style sensor is used, remove
sensor, clean, install and verify operation.
b. For issue 2.a.ii: If amperage is high (20+ Amps)
with extremely slow traction, replace motor
speed sensor (bearing.) or external sensor.
4. If unit still does not operate after performing all the
above procedures, please contact Technical Support
immediately.
Fault: Traction Surge or Hesitation During
Mow
1. Fault: Very quick vehicle speed fluctuation while
mowing with no faults in LDU and unit continues to
operate normally.
2. Possible root cause(s) and troubleshooting
procedure:
• Process timing within the CAN bus
communication system could cause CAN
message overlap and TCU misfire.
3. Fixes:
• Call Technical Support for further information.
