5. Measure the resistance between terminal (4) and
ground (2).
Is the resistance value approximately 10 ohms at
68° F?
YES Proceed to step 6.
NO Fuel shutoff solenoid is faulty; replace fuel
shutoff solenoid.
6. Measure the resistance between terminal (3) and
ground (2).
Is the resistance value approximately 0.5 ohm at
68° F?
YES Fuel shutoff solenoid is good.
NO Fuel shutoff solenoid is faulty; replace fuel
shutoff solenoid.
Fuel Shutoff Solenoid Test (Gas)
See Figure 4-92.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)

2. Tag and disconnect the fuel shutoff solenoid wire
connector (2).
3. Set the meter to read ohms.
4. Touch meter leads to each other and confirm a
resistance value of 0.0 ohms.
5. Measure the resistance between terminal (2) and
ground (1).
Is the resistance value within 40 ohms ± 10% at
68° F?
YES Fuel shutoff solenoid is good.
NO Fuel shutoff solenoid is faulty; replace fuel
shutoff solenoid.
