Assembly Notes
•
• Apply Loctite
®
518 gasket eliminator to top face of
housing (13) prior to assembly.
• Apply Loctite
®
242 (blue) to screws (3) and nuts (5)
prior to assembly.
• Tighten screws (3 and 9) to 30 lb-in. (3.9 N·m).
• Tighten nuts (5) to 40 lb-in. (4.5 N·m).
Fuel Level Switch
Removal and Installation
See Figure 4-155.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2. Raise the hood.

3. Tag and disconnect wire connector (1).
4. Lift fuel level switch (3) from grommet (2) and remove
from machine.
Installation Notes
• Install fuel level switch by reversing the order of
removal.
• Replace fuel level switch (3) or grommet (2) if wor n or
damaged.

WARNING
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
WARNING
IMPORTANT
It is important to lift and support the machine, or the
machine will move.
2. Lift the machine so that front wheels are off the
ground and support with appropriate jackstands.
3. Remove right side cowling. (See “Cowlings” on
page 7-18.)
4. Remove front splash shield. (See “Axle Shield and
Front Splash Shield” on page 5-17.)

Be sure that the key switch is off, all electrical
accessories are turned off, and the 12-volt and
48-volt power connectors are disconnected
before starting work on machine.
• Prevent personal injury. Use properly rated
lifting devices. Always be sure load is
balanced before lifting.
• Support the machine properly using
jackstands.
