DTC: Steering Fault 5410
Current is above the error limit.
DTC: Steering Fault 6210
Direction error.
DTC: Steering Fault 6211
Steering sensor out of range. (See “Steering Fault: 6211 - Both TPS and Proximity Versions” on page 4-84.)
DTC: Steering Fault 6214
TPS sensor error.
Probable Cause Remedy
Rear wheel obstructed. Check rear wheel for obstruction.
Steering motor chain. Check steering motor chain tension, mechanical binding or obstruction.
Steering yoke bearing. Check steering yoke bearing.
Faulty steering motor. Substitute the steering motor with a known good steering motor. If system now works,
re-install old component to verify fault returns.
Faulty steering control unit. Substitute the steering control unit with a known good steering control unit. If system now
works, re-install old component to verify fault returns.
Probable Cause Remedy
Faulty right and left steering proximity
switches.
Check proximity switch LEDs; the LEDs are turned on when there is no metal near the
sensor surface and turn off when metal is brought near the sensor surface. If a sensor
LED does not operate, check the connector and make sure the connection is dry,
clean of corrosion and tight.
Substitute the proximity switches with known good proximity switches. If system now
works, re-install old component to verify fault returns.
TPS Ensure TPS is installed correctly and verify center settings and voltage range.
Steering wheel input device. Substitute the steering wheel input device with a known good steering wheel input device.
If system now works, re-install old component to verify fault returns.
Probable Cause Remedy
Faulty steering proximity switch. With the rear wheel in the center position, check proximity switch LEDs. If a proximity
switch LED is off, substitute that proximity switch with a known good proximity switch.
If system now works, re-install old component to verify fault returns.
Steering wheel input device. Substitute the steering wheel input device with a known good steering wheel input device.
If system now works, re-install old component to verify fault returns.
Probable Cause Remedy
Faulty TPS dragging down 5V reference
voltage.
Verify voltage drop with TPS connected. If voltage drop is present, replace TPS.
