LO Synthesizer/Reference Troubleshooting
A14 LO Synthesizer and A20 YTO Troubleshooting
Verifying the 1st LO Power and Frequency:
1. Turn on the N9030B Signal Analyzer and wait for the instrument to
complete the boot up process.
2. Press FREQ, 50 MHz, SPAN, Zero Span.
3. Refer to Figure 8-5. Remove W21 from both A13A1J5 and A14J20.
4. Disconnect W20 from A13A1J4.
5. Refer to Figure 8-5. Connect the input of an 87300B directional coupler to
the end of W20 that was disconnected from A13A1J4, using a SMA (m-f)
elbow. Connect a short SMA cable from one output of the directional
coupler to A14J20. Connect another cable from the coupled output of the
directional coupler to the input of the functioning spectrum analyzer.
These connections bypass the LO distribution amplifiers on the A13A1 RF
Front End Assembly.

6. Set the functioning spectrum analyzer to a center frequency of 5172.5
MHz and a span of 5 MHz. Set the reference level to +10 dBm.
7. Press Peak Search on the functioning spectrum analyzer. If the functioning
spectrum analyzer has a preselector peak or preselector centering
function, perform that operation to guarantee that the preselector is
optimized for the measurement.
