Install the USB I/O board
Follow the instructions in this section to install the USB I/O board.
About this task
Attention:
• Read
“Installation Guidelines” on page 57 and “Safety inspection checklist” on page 58 to ensure that you
work safely.
• Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See
“Power off the server” on page 75.
• Keep static-sensitive parts in their static-protective packages until installation to prevent exposure to
static electricity. Handle the parts with an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding systems.
Place the parts on a static-protective surface.
Procedure
Step 1. Install the USB I/O board to the system board assembly.

a. Place the USB I/O board down as illustrated above to meet the connector on the system
board assembly.

Tighten one screw to secure the board.
Step 2. Connect the cable to the USB I/O board.
Step 3. Install the top cover, see
“Install the top cover” on page 284.
Step 4. Refer to
“USB I/O board problems” on page 334 to troubleshoot USB problems.
