Do you have a question about the MTE PTS 400.3 PLUS and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The PTS 400.3 PLUS is a modular three-phase portable test system, combining a class 0.02% reference standard (PRS 600.3) and an integrated three-phase current and voltage source (PPS 400.3). It is designed for on-site measurements and tests at metering installations, offering enhanced functionality and high measurement accuracy. The system is available in two versions, with the PPS 400.3 providing a maximum current up to 12 A or 120 A.

Function Description

The PRS 600.3 serves as the control module for the PPS 400.3 power source. Both modules are easily assembled and controlled, with the PRS 600.3 automatically recognizing the connected PPS 400.3. This allows for immediate operation and automatic measurement of load curves. The PPS 400.3 can also be operated independently via its RS 232 C serial interface, enabling its integration into stationary test systems.

The PRS 600.3 acts as a Portable Reference Standard and Power Quality Analyzer. Its reference standard is based on digital measurement value retrieval, fast analog-digital conversion, and calculations using fast signal processors. It is used for testing single and three-phase meters, instrument transformers, and installations on-site. As a Power Quality Analyzer, it resolves disputes in contractual applications, performs statistical surveys (including EN 50160 reporting), and troubleshoots power quality problems.

The system supports various clamp-on CTs (100 A up to 3000 A) and current/voltage sensors for high voltage potential, allowing non-contact or intrusive measurements without interrupting the circuit under test.

Key Functions of PRS 600.3:

  • Meter Testing: Measures pulse outputs (LED/disc mark/S0) and registers of active, reactive, apparent 1- or 3-phase, 3- or 4-wire energy meters with 3 pulse inputs and 3 pulse outputs.
  • Electrical Parameter Measurement: Measures UIφ, PQS, f, PF, including vector diagrams, harmonic analysis, and waveform display.
  • Instrument Transformer Testing: Performs CT/PT burden and ratio tests.
  • Power Quality Analysis: Detects dips, swells, interruptions, harmonics, interharmonics, signal voltages, voltage unbalance, flicker, and transients (≥ 100µs, 26.7 kHz).
  • Simultaneous Testing: Tests up to three meters or registers of a multi-functional meter simultaneously.
  • Data Storage: Internal memory for measurement results and customer data, with data storage on a removable Compact Flash memory card.
  • Communication: Data transfer and communication via 2 x USB (Type A and B) or 1 x ETHERNET.
  • Clamp-on CTs: Independent sets of UCT clamp-on CTs allow service, calibration, or later purchase without factory return.

Key Functions of PPS 400.3:

  • Network Independent Generation: Generates any network type (e.g., 3-phase 4-wire Y or Δ, 3-phase 3-wire, 1-phase 2-wire) independent of its supply voltage.
  • Harmonic Generation: Optionally generates harmonics in both voltage and current circuits.
  • Ripple Control Signals: Optionally generates ripple control signals.
  • Load Point Definition: Allows handling and definition of load points with all possible parameters.
  • Manual Adjustment: Manually adjusts load points with regulators for Voltage, Current, and Phase Angle.
  • User-Defined Slider Screen: Manually adjusts load points with regulators for 3 user-defined values (Voltage, Current, Phase Angle, Base Angle, Frequency).
