3-20 Basic faxing
Primarily using the phone (Tel Ready)
When the other party is calling, pick up the handset of the external phone and talk.
When the other parting is sending you a fax, press <Start> to start reception.
NOTE
Remove any documents from the automatic document feeder when receiving faxes. If
there is a document remaining, transmission will start when <Start> is pressed.
Setting the auto reception / manual reception
In addition to setting the reception mode, you can also set manual reception or automatic
reception on the screen.
•Auto reception: This method automatically receives faxes.
•Manual reception: See Primarily using the phone (Tel Ready)” above.

Press [Fax] on My MFP Menu screen.
If My MFP Menu screen is not displayed, press <Mode> repeatedly until “Fax Ready” screen is
displayed.

Press [Advanced].

Press [Auto Rx].

Select [ON] to set automatic reception or [OFF] to set manual reception, and
press [Enter].
Receiving faxes manually

When the machine is called, press [Fax] on My MFP Menu screen.
If My MFP Menu screen is not displayed, press <Mode> repeatedly until “Fax Ready” screen is
displayed.

Press [Monitor].
You will hear a beeping sound or hear nothing, it signifies a fax.

Press <Start>.
NOTE
To sound the beep tone, press [Setting] on My MFP Menu screen
[Default Settings]
[Sound Settings]
[Beep]
[ON]. For details, see chapter 1, “Specifying default
settings” in the Administrator’s Guide.
