9.13 How to Activate Options
A firmware update before the activation of the SW option may be required.
Refer to the description of the SW option for the required firmware version.
See also Chapter 9.12, "How to Install a New Firmware Version on the Instrument",
on page 159 for instruction on how to update the firmware version.
1. Select "SGMA-GUI main panel > Instrument Name > Setup > Install SW-Options".
2. Select "Option Key" and enter the key code delivered with the new option.
The new option is now enabled and ready for operation.
9.14 How to Manually Set a PCIe Direct Connection
between an R&S SGS and an R&S SGU
To build a direct PCIe connection between an R&S SGU and an R&S SGS, which has
a "Controller > Revision" < 5, first you have to set the correct PCIe interface mode
manually. If your R&S SGS has a "Controller > Revision" 5 or higher, these settings are
done automatically.
You can check the "Controller > Revision" of your instrument in the "SGMA-GUI >
Instrument Name > Hardware Config" dialog.
Toset a PCIe direct connection between an R&S SGS and an R&S SGU manually
1. Connect the R&S SGS and the R&S SGU directly using a PCIe cable. Refer to
Chapter 10.3.4, "Connecting the Controller and the Instrument", on page 176 for
cable requirements and setup information.
2. Switch on the R&S SGS and the R&S SGU.
3. Select "SGMA-GUI main panel > Instrument Name > Setup > Maintainance".
4. Select "Operation > PCIe Interface Mode".
5. Select "PCIe Interface Mode > Root Complex".
6. Restart your instrument for the changes to take place.
The PCIe connection between the R&S SGS and the R&S SGU is established and
the instruments can be used.
