The extension adopts these values and states automatically and generates a CW
signal with RF = 40 GHz and Level = -20 dBm.
The signal is output at the [RF OUT] connector on the rear panel of the R&S SGU.
Identifying a specific instrument
If several instruments are active in the R&S SGMA-GUI use one of the device identifi-
cation functions to identify a specific device:
Select "SGMA-GUI > Instrument Name > Setup > Remote > Remote Channels >
Device Identify". The green [LAN] LED on the front panel of the instrument blinks.
Press the [ID] key on the instrument's front panel. The "Edit Instrument" dialog of
the respective instrument opens.
5.3 Introduction to the Instrument Functions
This section is intended to give a brief introduction to the instrument's function. The
description of the related user interface parameters is provided in the corresponding
section in Chapter 7, "Signal Generator Settings", on page 80.
For detailed information on how to work with the instrument and to perform basic and
advanced operating and configuration tasks, refer to Chapter 9, "Performing Configura-
tion Tasks", on page 147.
The Figure 5-9 provides a simplified block diagram of the instrument.
For better understanding of the instrument functions and the signal flow, the block dia-
gram shows the main blocks of the instrument together with the corresponding GUI
parameters.
