7.2 Updatingrmware
7.2.1 UpdatingrmwareonthePCD2.M110/M120
ThermwareversionsforthePCD2.M110/M120aregenerallyupwardlycompatible
intermsofhardware,sooldCPUscanbettedwithnewrmware,inordertotake
advantage of new functions. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee to provide this
feature in the future, but it has helped many customers in the past and we will try to
retain it as long as possible.
At this point, the following known restrictions apply:
Hardware version D1 from July/August 1995 only works with firmware version $34;
a firmware update is not possible with these controllers
The use of intelligent communication modules such as Profibus DP, LON and
Ethernet requires the minimum hardware and firmware versions. Please refer to
the manuals for the communication modules
ThermwareforthePCD2.M110/M120isstoredintwoEPROMs.With an EPROM
burner (e.g. Galep-4), new rmware chips can be burned at any time.Thele
withthelatestrmwareversionisavailabletodownloadfromwww.sbc-support.
Blankrmwarechipscanbeobtainedunderitem-no.450271260(twochipsper
CPU need to be ordered).

ThermwareversionsforthePCD2.M150aregenerallyupwardlycompatiblein
termsofhardware,sooldCPUscanbettedwithnewrmware,inordertotake
advantage of new functions. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee to provide this
feature in the future, but it has helped many customers in the past and we will try to
retain it as long as possible.
ThermwareforthePCD2.M150isstoredintwoFlashEPROMs.With an EPROM
burner (e.g. Galep-4), new rmware chips can be burned at any time; updating
viadownload,aswiththeM170/M480isnotpossible.Thelewiththelatestrmware
version is available to download from www.sbc-support.Blankrmwarechipscanbe
obtained under item-no. 4 502 7341 0 (two chips per CPU need to be ordered).
7.2.3 UpdatingrmwareonthePCD1.M1x5,PCD2.M170andPCD2.M480
ThermwareversionsforthePCD1.M1x5,PCD2.M170andPCD2.M480aregener-
allyupwardlycompatibleintermsofhardware,sooldCPUscanbettedwithnew
rmware,inordertotakeadvantageofnewfunctions.Unfortunately,wecannotguar-

ThermwareforthePCD1.M1x5,PCD2.M170andPCD2.M480isstoredinaFlash
EPROM,solderedtothemotherboard.Armwareupdatecanbeappliedbydown-
loading a new version within PG5. The procedure is as follows:

Establish a connection between the PG5 and the CPU, as for a download of an
