Characteristics of the parameter channel
● One 16-bit address exists for each parameter number and subindex.
● Simultaneous access by several additional PROFIBUS masters (master class 2) or
PROFINET IO Supervisor (e.g., commissioning tool).
● Transfer of different parameters in one access operation (multiple parameter request).
● Transfer of complete arrays or part of an array possible.
● Only one parameter request is processed at a time (no pipelining).
● A parameter request/parameter response must fit into a data set (e.g. PROFIBUS: max.
240 bytes).
● The request or the response header is user data.
