7.5.2.3 Configuration in STEP 7 HW Config
Introduction
When you have finished configuring the system with MSS-ES, the DP interface must be
configured as a PROFIBUS DP slave in the configuration tool of the PROFIBUS master (e.g.
STEP 7). The slave properties (e.g. PROFIBUS address) set in the configuration tool must
be identical with those set in MSS-ES. Otherwise, the configuration is rejected by the DP
interface.
Requirement
The GSD file is required for the configuration process.
● SI01814D.GSG for the German GSD
● SI01814D.GSD for the default GSD (English)
The GSD file for the DP interface is available free of charge on the Internet at
http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/de/24063754 under the "Downloads" tab.
Installing the GSD file
Install the GSD file, e.g. within STEP 7, as follows:
1. Open "HW Config" in the SIMATIC Manager.
2. Select the "Options" > "Install GSD files" menu command.
3. Use the "Search" button to select the path containing the GSD file for the DP interface.
4. Select the file "si01814D.GSG" in the list and confirm with the "Install" button.
5. In the menu bar, select "Options" > "Update catalog".
Result: You will find the newly installed device in the catalog under "PROFIBUS DP" >
"Additional field devices".
6. Acknowledge the installation with "Close".
Result: You can now integrate the DP slave into your project.
Configuring the DP interface
Configure the DP interface as a modular PROFIBUS DP slave in the HW Config of the
PROFIBUS DP master as follows:
1. Open your STEP 7 project.
2. Open the HW Config of the PROFIBUS DP master.
3. Select the DP interface in the "Hardware Catalog" window.
Path: PROFIBUS-DP > Additional FIELD DEVICES > Switching devices > Safety relays >
Modular Safety System 3RK3 > DP interface MSS V1.0
4. Drag & drop the selected DP interface to the DP master system
The dialog "Properties - PROFIBUS Interface ..." opens.
5. Set the properties of the PROFIBUS sub-network.
DP alarm mode must be set for operation behind a Y link on DPV1.
