8.1 Error management
Display concept
In error management, the following display concept applies:
Errors that relate to the device are indicated by a
red
SF LED.
Errors that relate to the sensors are indicated by a
flashing red
SF LED.
If more than one error is present at the same time,
red
has priority over
red flashing
.
Error management
A number of methods are available for diagnosing errors.
Diagnostics with diagnostics module (Page 243)
Diagnostics via LEDs (Page 238)
Diagnostics with MSS ES (Page 256)
Diagnostics with data sets (Page 270)
Diagnostics with DP interface (Page 226)
Error management makes a distinction between four different error categories:
Device error
System error
Sensor or wiring fault
Parameterization or configuration error
Device error
A device error causes the system to stop. Communication between the modules is not
possible. These errors are caused by internal system errors.
This error category can occur in any operating mode.

The central unit can only exit the system stop by means of a restart after switching
the power supply off and on. If the error is still present after the system has been
rebooted, you must replace the central unit.
