8.6 Acceptance Test
Following successful fault diagnosis an acceptance test must be carried out. At the end of each test
complete the Test Results Sheet to keep a record of all results.
8.6.1 Battery Off Load Voltage
On the Tx Board, measure the D7 Cathode wrt 0V (C16 –ve). This should be greater than 20V for a
fully charged unit.
8.6.2 Battery Charge Circuit Function
1. Make power supply connections to the transponder’s external 5 pin connector using the
MCIL5F test cable – charging input (green, pin 4) to +24V; common (white, pin 2) to 0V.
2. Apply 24V supply via the test cable.
3. Check an approximate 85mA charging current flows. Make a note of the on-load voltage
supply (nominally 20.5V, depending on the charge condition of the battery.
4. Assemble the WSM6 for the remaining tests.
8.6.3 Serial Communications with PC Software
1. Connect to a PC using the charge/comms interface.
2. Run the WSM Terminal Software.
3. Switch on the transponder.
4. Select Get Status, and check the transponder returns data.
5. This test checks the basic operation of the micro controller and the associated crystal.
6. Select the following:
Nav Scheme = HPR
HPR Channel = B21
Address = 3301
7. Disconnect the charger/comms interface, and reconnect the pig tail test lead.
8.6.4 Transponder Test
1. Connect the ANT TDR output to the ANT Test Transducer (Type 7935-000).
2. Hold the Test Transducer end on to the WSM6 transducer. The test transducer will verify the
WSM6 acoustic transducer.
