Modulation is the number of electric pulses per millisecond to break the ink stream into
droplets. When modulation is too high or too low, the print quality is reduced. The ideal
modulation results in the ink flow breaking up into droplets after entering the Charge
Electrode Tunnel, but before exiting it. This produces a flow of clearly differentiated ink
droplets, resulting in crisp, clean printing.
